History
St Augustine Community Care Trust, known as Homelink, was set up in 1997 through the efforts of the Incumbent and the parishioners of St. Augustine Church in Whitton who, having identified the need for respite care in the local community, raised the funds necessary to build St Augustine’s Church Hall to operate as the centre to serve the local community as its outreach.
The service continued to operate from the church hall until 2015, when we were fortunate to receive funding from The Department of Health and Richmond Borough Council amongst other funders, to build the dedicated purpose-built Homelink Centre that we operate from today. St. Augustine’s Church generously allowed us to build the centre upon their land and operate rent free, and we continue to work in partnership and benefit from their support.
We remain eternally grateful to those who were instrumental in sowing the seeds of what has become a well-established local service, and which has given vital support to hundreds of people since it began.
Our aim remains the same now as it did when we began; to give carers a day of respite secure in the knowledge that the person they look after is enjoying themselves and receiving care and support of the very highest standard.
In 2019, the Trust became an incorporated charity and a charitable company limited by guarantee, registered as St. Augustine's Community Care Trust (Trading as Homelink), Company No: 12124874, Charity Number: 1186457.
